First editions of each volume in Wells’ longest novel. Octavo, three volumes, original publisher’s cloth with gilt titles to the spines. From the collection of British science fiction author Christopher Priest. Priest’s most famous works include The Inverted World (1974), the interconnected “Dream Archipelago” series, and The Prestige (1995), which was adapted into the 2006 Academy Award nominee film of the same name by Christopher Nolan and starring Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, Scarlett Johansson, and Michael Caine. Each volume is in very good condition.

"This novel, the longest of its year, deals with a hero whose attitude of mind is very close to that of the author. It includes an attack on the education of the day, especially that being offered by the older universities, and an important section on the theory of world revolution" (Wells, 96).
