Quarto, 6 volumes bound in full contemporary diced calf with gilt stamping and tooling to the spine in six compartments within raised gilt bands, morocco spine labels lettered in gilt, triple gilt ruling to the front and rear panels, gilt turn-ins, marbled endpapers, all edges marbled. In very good condition. A very nice example.

Books signed by Mahfouz are rare as he left Egypt only twice during his life, each time only but for a short time.
