Scarce first edition of Millicent Fawcett's immensely successful work on political economy, published the year before she helped found Newnham College for women at Cambridge in 1871. English politician, writer and feminist Dame Millicent Garrett Fawcett led Britain's largest women's rights association, the National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies (NUWSS) from 1897 to 1919.
