Rare first edition of the first Jewish cookbook published in America, with extensive instructions on keeping a kosher household in addition to recipes. Octavo, original cloth. In very good condition, rebacked. Housed in a custom half morocco clamshell box. First editions are exceptionally scarce of this milestone in American Jewish history.

First edition, first issue, of “the first alphabetically arranged culinary encyclopaedia to appear in the United States” (Oxford Companion to Food, 17), and one of the most popular American cookbooks of the 19th century; with the woodcut diagram showing cuts of beef on page xxxii, no mention of Lyman Thurston & Co. on the copyright page, and 1832 as the date of both printing and copyright (Lowenstein, 160; Cagle & Stafford, 447). Octavo, bound in full contemporary calf with gilt titles and tooling to the spine, red morocco spine label. In very good condition with period recipes affixed to the front free endpaper with a pin. Scarce and desirable.

Rare folio containing nearly 400 Cuban cigar labels, produced during the “Golden Age” of cigar label art. Ten panels bound into a collector’s folio. Label brands include Romeo y Juleita, Cuaba, Jose Gener, and La Corona. Full-color portraits featured on a selection of labels include King George V., King Edward VII, and Simon Bolivar. Each label is in near fine to fine condition. A unique example.
