First edition of the 52nd Governor of New York's autobiography. Octavo, original half cloth, cartographic endpapers. Association copy, inscribed by the author on the dedication page, "To Bill Safire, One of our proud hoasts [sic] (but isn't there something wrong with that grammatically? Mario 1994." The recipient, William Safire, was an important American author, columnist, journalist, and presidential speechwriter. He joined Nixon’s campaign for the 1960 Presidential race, and again in 1968.
