Griffith. In fine condition. Matted and framed. The entire piece measures 16.5 inches by 14.5 inches.

The rocket-engine-powered Bell X-1 was conceived as a part of a joint supersonic research project conducted by the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics, U.S. Army Air Forces, and U.S. Air Force. In 1945, the X-1, piloted by Chuck Yeager, became the first manned airplane to exceed the speed of sound in level flight.
