First edition of one of the most popular novels of all-time. Octavo, bound in three quarters morocco with gilt titles and tooling to the spine in six compartments within raised gilt bands, marbled endpapers, gilt topstain, with ten illustrations by the author including frontispiece. In very good condition.

Initially published in Harper's Monthly in 1894, du Maurier's Trilby was published in book form on September 8, 1895 and sold 200,000 copies in the United States alone. Set in 1850s Bohemian Paris, the novel served as the primary inspiration for Gaston Leroux's Phantom of the Opera and has been adapted into several plays and numerous films including the 1983 film Svengali starring Peter O'Toole and Jodie Foster.
