Tout compte fait (All Said and Done), is the fourth and final volume of Simone de Beauvoir’s autobiography, following Memoirs of a Dutiful Daughter, The Prime of Life, and Force of Circumstance. Rather than proceeding chronologically, Beauvoir reflects thematically on her life, her writing, her politics, and the friendships and commitments that shaped her, including her lifelong bond with Jean-Paul Sartre. One of the most influential thinkers of the twentieth century and a founder of modern feminism through her landmark study The Second Sex, Beauvoir dedicated this final volume to Sylvie Le Bon, her close companion and later adopted daughter.
