First edition of President Herbert Hoover’s 1948 Address before the Republican National Convention. Octavo, bound in three quarters morocco over marbled boards, gilt titles and tooling to the spine, raised bands, marbled endpapers. Signed by Herbert Hoover on the title page. Also bound in are two letters signed by Hoover on his letterhead in facsimile with two copies of The Meaning America, the Homecoming Address delivered by Hoover on his 74th Birthday, August 10, 1948. In very good condition with light rubbing to the extremities.

Herbert Hoover served as the 31st President of the United States from 1929 to 1933 during the Great Depression. A Republican, as Secretary of Commerce in the 1920s he introduced Progressive Era themes of efficiency in the business community and provided government support for standardization, efficiency and international trade. He was President of the United States from 1929 to 1933.
