The Warped Side of Our Universe is a singular collaboration between the theoretical physicist Kip Thorne and the painter Lia Halloran, presenting the science of the universe's most extreme phenomena as an epic in free verse accompanied by Halloran's sweeping ink paintings. Kip Thorne, the Feynman Professor of Theoretical Physics Emeritus at the California Institute of Technology, was awarded the 2017 Nobel Prize in Physics, together with Rainer Weiss and Barry Barish, for his decisive contributions to the LIGO detector and the first direct observation of gravitational waves; he also served as executive producer and science advisor on Christopher Nolan's film Interstellar. Lia Halloran is an artist and the chair of art at Chapman University whose work explores the intersection of science and visual art. Their book invites readers on a lyrical journey through the relativistic warped side of reality that has been the focus of Thorne's life's work.
