The Society of Experimental Test Pilots: 9th Annual Symposium Proceedings – 1965 Report to the Aerospace Profession.

ARMSTRONG, Neil and Lt.Col. James A. McDivitt.

Item Number: 119467

Lancaster, California: Society of Experimental Test Pilots, 1965.

First edition of this early work by Neil Armstrong, who contributed the article, Gemini Manned Flight Program To Date. Octavo, original illustrated wrappers, illustrated with photographs, drawings, tables, and charts. In near fine condition.

Four years before he became the first human to set foot on the moon, the speech by Armstrong, joined by his colleague McDivitt, was in a Symposium session chaired by Alan Shepard, then Chief of the Astronaut Office of NASA’s Manned Spacecraft Center. The two Astronauts gave a fascinating presentation on the Gemini program. That Session also included presentations by W. T. Armstrong of North American Aviation on “Apollo Flight Crew Integration” and by Robert K. Smyth of Grumman Aircraft on the “Lunar Excursion Module”, with an illustration of the prototype of the future Lunar Lander.
