Parry's solemn tribute to his close friend, the late Lord Byron, focuses on the Romantic poet and politician's involvement in the mid-19th century movement for Greek independence. Upon his death in 1824 at the age of 36, the Greeks mourned Lord Byron deeply, and he became a hero. In 1969, 145 years after Byron's death, a memorial to him was finally placed in Westminster Abbey.
