Scott's debut novel opens on Christmas Eve in Wichita Kansas with crooked businessmen Charlie Arglist and Vic Cavanaught planning their getaway with the two million dollars they have stolen from their boss Bill Guerrard. The novel was awarded the Silver Medal for First Work of Fiction by the California Book Awards and adapted into the film of the same name starring John Cusack, Billy Bob Thornton, and Randy Quaid.
