Octavo, original dark green cloth with gilt titles and tooling to the spine and front panel, illustrated with 64 plates by Harry Rountree. Foreword by Herbert Warren Wind. Afterword by Ben Crenshaw. Association copy, inscribed by Ben Crenshaw, who contributed the afterword to the present volume, to Herbert Warren Wind on the front free endpaper, “To Herb – With deep respect and affection, Ben Crenshaw.” The recipient, Herbert Warren Wind contributed the foreword to the present volume and was one of the best-known writers on golf throughout the 20th and early 21st centuries. He co-authored several of the most highly regarded books on golf, including Ben Hogan’s Five Lessons, Gene Sarazen’s Thirty Years of Championship Golf, and Jack Nicklaus’ The Greatest Game of All. Additionally inscribed by Robby MacDonald, the Founder of Classics of Golf, “Herb – I hope adding my name to this won’t spoil the star effect, but you have done more than anyone to bring Darwin back to life – Best Robby MacDonald.” In near fine condition.
