Octavo, bound in full morocco by Sangorski and Sutcliffe with gilt titles and tooling to the spine in six compartments within raised gilt bands, double gilt ruling, fleuron cornerpieces, and central gilt vignette to the front and rear panels, gilt turn-ins and inner dentelles, marbled endpapers. In fine condition.
The leading playwright of his generation, Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw wrote more than sixty plays throughout his lifetime including Man and Superman (1902), Pygmalion (1912) and Saint Joan (1923). His works incorporated contemporary satire and historical allegory and he has regularly been rated as second only to Shakespeare among British dramatists.
