First edition with “Q37” present in gutter of page 439 and stated first edition on the copyright page of King’s second novel. Octavo, original half cloth. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the title page, “For David- Best, Stephen King.” Fine in a fine second state dust jacket (this one with corner clipper, price of “$7.95” and error “Father Cody”, which was corrected in later printings) with a touch of shelfwear. Jacket art by Dave Christensen. An exceptional example.

It was nominated for the World Fantasy Award for Best Novel in 1976, and the Locus Award for the All-Time Best Fantasy Novel in 1987. It was adapted for television twice, both of which are three-hour miniseries. The 1979 version starring David Soul as Ben Mears was nominated for three primetime Emmys and an Edgar Award. The 2004 version starred Rob Lowe, which also received a primetime Emmy nomination.
