First edition, first issue of these epic poems, with the misprint "loah" on page 67 instead of "loth" in Paradise Regained. Octavo, bound in full contemporary speckled calf with gilt titles and tooling to the spine in six compartments within raised bands, double gilt ruling to the front and rear panels, all edges marbled, engraved portrait frontispiece, rebacked, errata in second state to the rear, lacking the imprimatur leaf. In very good condition. Ownership plate to the front pastedown of George Lloyd Esq. with the signature of Susanna Georgiana Lloyd dated 1830 written below. Housed in a custom half calf clamshell box.
English poet and polemicist John Milton was active during a time of religious flux and political upheaval and became best known for his epic poem Paradise Lost written in blank verse.
