KELLER, Helen.
Item Number: 71029
New York: T.Y. Crowell and Company, 1903.
First edition of Keller’s inspiring statement of her “religion of optimism.” Octavo, original cloth, frontispiece of Keller. Boldly signed by the author on the front free endpaper, “Sincerely yours, Helen Keller.” In near fine condition with light rubbing. First editions are uncommon and desirable signed.
An American writer and social activist, Keller is well known for her strength, faith and undying optimism. At the age of 19 months old, Keller contracted an illness described by doctors as "an acute congestion of the stomach and the brain" leaving her both deaf and blind. Optimism was published shortly after her autobiography, "My Story".
