First edition and signed limited edition of Conrad’s one-act absurdist play. Octavo, original publisher’s gilt-decorated quarter vellum over paper-covered boards. One of three hundred seventy-seven numbered copies signed by the author on the limitation page, this is number 287. In near fine condition.
A retired coasting skipper, Captain Hagbred, has received no word of his son Harry's whereabouts for years, yet, despite their lack of correspondence, has scrimped and saved to outfit Harry a house and planned for him to marry Bessie, the young woman next door. One Day More marked Conrad's first stab at at writing a one-act play, he would return to write other plays throughout his literary career, stretching's theatrical convention into the realm of modern absurdism.
