Best known for her studies in Native American language, American anthropologist and linguist Gladys Reichard is considered one of the most important 20th century female figures in the field. Reichard conducted most of her research throughout the 1930s and 40s, with a focus on the Navajo language, belief system, and religious practice which culminated in the two volume study, Navaho Religion, published in 1950 by the Bollingen Foundation.
