First edition. Octavo, original cloth. Inscribed and dated in 1946 by Weegee. An excellent tight example that shows some rubbing and wear.
Weegee is the pseudonym of criminal photographer Arthur Fellig. The nickname is a phonetic rendering of Ouija, a reference to Fellig's prescient arrivals at scenes only minutes after committed crimes and reported emergencies ("'Unknown Weegee,' on Photographer Who Made the Night Noir," New York Times). The book of photography can be seen as a noirish glance into the urban life of the early Twentieth Century.
