First edition of Ansel Adams’ classic work on one of his favorite subjects. Folio, original pictorial wrappers spiral bound with 24 photographs duotone photographs on glossy Kromecote paper and an essay by Adams. Presentation copy, inscribed by Adams on the front free endpaper, “For Joyce Waterman, Ansel Adams.” In near fine condition.

“Adams photographed landscapes with razor-sharp precision and an incomparable eye for the structure and detail of his chosen subject matter… He elevated the act of photography to a religious experience” (Icons of Photography, 96). The text is by Adams, including information on photographic techniques. “The great rocks of Yosemite,” he writes, “are the most compelling formations of their kind.”
