Color photograph of Muhammad Ali and Leon Spinks in their highly anticipated rematch on September 15, 1978. Signed by both Muhammad Ali and Leon Spinks. Label affixed to the verso notes that the signatures were obtained at a private signing held in the late 1990s. In fine condition. The photograph measures 8 inches by 10 inches. Matted and framed. The entire piece measures 14 inches by 16 inches.

On September 15, 1978 Muhammad Ali faced Leon Spinks at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans in a fight rematch, which saw Ali lose to Spinks 7 months earlier. Joe Frazier sang the national anthem in front of a record crowd of 70,000. Ali went on to win a unanimous decision over Spinks in 15 rounds. Ali won for the third time the world heavyweight boxing title, the first fighter ever to do so. Following this victory, Ali retired from boxing, only to make a brief comeback two years later. He retired permanently in 1981.
