First edition of Hine’s only book published in his lifetime, a landmark photobook in its celebration of “the dignity of labour and… the American skyscraper” (Parr & Badger). Small quarto, original green cloth, illustrated with 51 black-and-white photogravures. Some rubbing to the bottom and some sunning to the upper cloth, very good in the dust jacket which has had some professional restoration. Scarce, especially in the original dust jacket.

In Men at Work, Lewis W. Hine brings enormous technical ability and sensitivity to iconic portraits of the construction workers, railroad and factory workers, miners, foundation men and welders who shaped the skyline of New York City throughout the early 20th century.
