The signatures were obtained on March 1, 2004 when Justice Breyer read Marshall the Courthouse Mouse to a group of children as part of the Reading Across America Program held at the Court. He read to a group of second-graders from McKinley Elementary School. Cat in the Hat hats were worn, and an actor in a Cat in the Hat costume appeared following the reading. The event was held in the Supreme Court Library. Fine in a fine dust jacket. Also, included is Dr. Seuss’ book Oh, the Places You’ll Go!, signed by Stephen Breyer at the same event. Read Across America Reading Justice Breyer read a book, Marshall, the Courthouse Mouse: A Tail of the U.S. Supreme Court, to a group of second-graders from McKinley Elementary School. Cat in the Hat hats were worn, and an actor in a Cat in the Hat costume appeared following the reading. This event, held in the Supreme Court Library, was part of the National Education Association’s “Read Across America” Initiative.
