Color photograph of J. Edgar Hoover and President Lyndon B. Johnson speaking at the White House’s Rose Garden on May 8, 1964, an event which honored his 40th year as the FBI Director. Signed and inscribed, “To Deke De Loach, with high regard and best wishes, Lyndon B. Johnson.” The recipient Deke DeLoach worked at the FBI for nearly thirty years and, in 1965, was promoted by Hoover to Deputy Director. During his post, DeLoach was the third most senior official in the FBI after J. Edgar Hoover and Clyde Tolson and was the lead investigator in both the Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr., assassinations. The photograph measures 7.75 inches by 9.25 inches. Matted and framed. The entire piece measures 12.5 inches by 14 inches. A nice association.

Lyndon Baines Johnson was an American politician who served as the 36th President of the United States from 1963 to 1969, assuming the office after serving as the 37th Vice President of the United States under President John F. Kennedy from 1961 to 1963. A Democrat from Texas, he previously served as a United States Representative from 1937 to 1949 and then as a United States Senator from 1949 to 1961. He spent six years as Senate Majority Leader, two as Senate Minority Leader, and two more as Senate Majority Whip.
