One of 2425 first edition copies signed by Carl Sandburg, this is number 1994. Fine in the original slipcase with pictorial pastedown which is in near fine condition. An exceptional example.

Chicago attorney Oliver Barrett began collecting Lincoln letters, documents, relics and related source materials as a child and, over the course of 50 years, amassed one of the most important Lincoln collections in his hometown of Pittsfield, Illinois. It was Barrett's collection that Sandburg used to author his Pulitzer Prize-winning biography of Lincoln.
