Twenty-three leaves, Sanskrit text in black ink with 15 original full-color erotic paintings with elaborate gilt decoration. In very good condition. Rare and desirable.

Attributed to ancient Indian philosopher Vātsyāyana, the Kama Sutra is generally believed to have been composed between 400 and 200 B.C.E. Although a portion of the work consists of practical advice on sexual intercourse, the work is primarily prose consisting of 1250 verses distributed over 36 chapters structured into seven parts including: General Remarks, Amorous Advances, Acquiring a Wife, Duties and Privileges of the Wife, Other Men's Wives, About Courtesans, and Occult Practices.
