In addition to being a close personal friend of Theodore Roosevelt, Lawrence Fraser Abbott served as Roosevelt's secretary throughout his tours of Europe and Africa between 1909 and 1910. Abbott authored the article on Roosevelt in the 1911 Encyclopedia Britannica as well as Impressions of Theodore Roosevelt (1919) and The Story of NYLIC (1930).
