Association copy, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper to actress Phyllis Diller and close friend of the author’s, “For Phyllis with admiration and every best wish- Charles M. Schulz ‘Happiness is living with old fang face.” Fine in a near fine dust jacket with light rubbing. A very nice association.

Before Happiness is a Warm Puppy, Schulz had published only collected “Peanuts” strips; this is the first Peanuts book to appear in a format of original text and illustrations, on colored paper. The small volume enjoyed great success, spending 45 weeks on the New York Times best-seller list, reaching as high as the number two spot.
