Near fine in a very good dust jacket. A nice example.
Fiddler on the Roof, which opened on Broadway in 1964, is among the most beloved and successful musicals in American theatrical history. Adapted by Joseph Stein from the Tevye stories of the Yiddish writer Sholom Aleichem, with music by Jerry Bock and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, it follows Tevye, a poor Jewish milkman in the village of Anatevka in Tsarist Russia, striving to hold together his family and traditions as the world around them changes. Directed and choreographed by Jerome Robbins and starring Zero Mostel as Tevye, the original production won nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and became the first Broadway musical to surpass 3,000 performances. Its songs, among them Tradition, If I Were a Rich Man, and Sunrise, Sunset, are known the world over, and the show was adapted into an acclaimed film in 1971.
