It is, however, the story of a people, the 'Common Men' who suffered as soldiers, prisoners, and fugitives during the Rebellion. The detail found in 'Culloden' derives from regimental Order Books and manuals, newspapers and magazines, letters and memoirs of soldiers and officers, eye-witness accounts of persecution, and the personal stories of the victims themselves.
