Early British printing of Dahl’s classic work. Octavo, original illustrated boards as issued, illustrated. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, “Blake Love Roald Dahl.” Illustrated by Faith Jaques. In excellent condition with light rubbing and wear.

"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is already a great classic work [and] one of the most enduring post-war children’s books Dahl is undeniably special" (Connolly, 102). It was the basis for the 1971 film directed by Mel Stuart and starring Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka and again the 2005 film starring Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka and Freddie Highmore as Charlie Bucket, alongside David Kelly, Helena Bonham Carter, Noah Taylor, Missi Pyle, James Fox, Deep Roy and Christopher Lee.
