Bush v. Gore was a decision of the United States Supreme Court that settled a recount dispute in Florida's 2000 presidential election. The Supreme Court decision allowed the previous vote certification to stand, as made by Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris, for George W. Bush as the winner of Florida's 25 electoral votes. Ruth Bader Ginsburg served as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1993 until her death in 2020. She was nominated by President Bill Clinton and was the second woman to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court, after Sandra Day O'Connor.
