Folio, bound in full calf, all edges sprinkled red, engraved portrait, engraved allegorical frontispiece, title printed in red and black, [vi], 67, [1] pp., 43 engraved plates (the first eight incorporated in the text); title, 71–115, [1] pp., 61 engraved plates; title printed in red and black and half title, 3-46, 22 engraved plates; title, 1-38 pp., half title, 20, [4] pp., 104 engraved plates, including 10 folding plates. In very good condition. An exceptional example.
Andrea Palladio was an Italian Renaissance architect active in the Venetian Republic. Palladio, influenced by Roman and Greek architecture, primarily Vitruvius, is widely considered to be one of the most influential individuals in the history of architecture. While he designed churches and palaces, he was best known for country houses and villas.
