First British edition of Kipling’s Actions and Reactions signed and lengthily inscribed by him with a poem. Octavo, original cloth with gilt elephant emblem to the front panel. Presentation copy, signed and inscribed by Rudyard Kipling with a verse from his poem, The Press, “To RD Rudyard Kipling. Who once had served to the sultry hour when, roaring like a gale, The Harrild and the Hoe devour The league-long paper bale And has lit his pipe in the morning calm That follows the midnight stress – He has sold his heart to the old black art Men call the daily press R.K.” In very good condition. Rare and desirable signed and inscribed by Kipling.
