Octavo, original publisher’s decorated dark green cloth with gilt titles to the spine and front panel. In near fine condition with the scarce publisher’s wrap around band present.

English journalist, short-story writer, poet, and novelist Rudyard Kipling was one of the most popular writers in the British Empire, in both prose and verse, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature in 1907. First published in an unauthorized edition by B. W. Dodge and Co. months before this authorized edition was approved by Kipling, Abaft the Funnel includes such short stories as The Fallen Idol, The Shadow of His Hand, The Three Young Men, A Death in the Camp, and Chautauquaed.
