Thirty-Eight Star American Parade Flag.
[1877-1890].
Rare 38-star linen American parade flag. Canton of 38 stars against blue, field of 13 alternating red and white stripes, printed on linen bunting, 2 holes on hoist end without grommets. The thirty-eight star flag was in use between July 4, 1877 when the state of Colorado was admitted into the Union as the 38th state and July 4, 1890 when North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Washington, and Idaho were admitted as the 39th, 40th, 41st, 42nd, and 43rd states. The flag measures 9 inches by 14 inches. Glazed and framed. The entire piece measures 13.5 by 18.5 inches.
