Rare Latin papal document from the first year of the papacy of Benedict XIV appointing Pietro Benedetti as an apostolic protonotary. Octavo, bound in full contemporary morocco by the Vatican Bindery with elaborate gilt tooling to the spine, gilt papal and royal coats of arms to the front and rear panels within elaborate floral gilt ruling, marbled endpapers, ribbon bound in. Twelve illuminated vellum leaves with the entire text in script including the hand-painted coats of arms of Pope Benedict XIV and Cardinal Joseph ex Comitibus de Marsciano, Bishop of Orvieto. Signed by the Bishop at the conclusion of the document with a paper seal. In near fine condition condition. An exceptional rarity.

Signed by Pope John Paul II (born Karol Józef Wojtyła), “Karol card Wojtyla.” The famous Polish Sacrosong Festival was established in 1969 to preserve Catholic identity during the Cold War, future pope Cardinal Karol Wojtyla was a major patron of the festival, featured vocalist, and appeared in a full-length feature album, Pope John Paul II At The Festival Sacrosong, produced and distributed in more that 30 worldwide networks in 1979.
