First edition, first state copy with the 5/57 at the bottom of the front flap of the dust jacket, and the repetition of line 8 on line 10 on page 327. Octavo, original cloth. An excellent near fine copy in a very good dust jacket with a closed tear to the and a few chips to the spine crown.
The Town follows the fictional Snopes family of Mississippi. It is the second of the "Snopes" trilogy, following The Hamlet (1940) and completed by The Mansion (1959).
